Please be advised that the SBU/BNL Van will remain in service through intersession. However, there will not be van service on Friday, December 24, 2004 nor Friday, December 31, 2004 due to holiday closings. Van service on Thursday, December 23, 2004 will end at 1 PM.

1. Employee Assistance Program Lunchtime Learning, Getting Organized - When Time is Not on Our Side

Getting things done reduces stress, but getting started is a challenge. It's all about managing ourselves without feeling overwhelmed. How do we balance work, family, leisure time and other commitments? We will focus on those things that matter most and identify the obstacles in our path. A questionnaire will be distributed so we can evaluate how we spend our time. Topics covered will be: 1) fighting procrastination, 2) managing stress, 3) setting goals and priorities 4) choosing the right model for taking action, and 5) applying the 3 D's - Do it, Delegate it and Defer it.

3. Employee Assistance Program Lunchtime Learning What's Stress Got to do With It

This workshop will explore one of the biggest health problems in people's lives - STRESS. How does stress affect us? What are some helpful tips that can reduce stress at home and at work? Participants will be given a list of resources at Stony Brook University and in the community.

Networking Fundamentals is a general introduction to the full range of computer networking, from local-area network to wide-area network technology, using as hardware the computers built and studied in preceding sections. Healthy Volunteers Needed for a Clinical Research study involving sedation medication.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must fast 8 hours prior to treatment.
Volunteers will be paid $400 at the completion of the study.

2. Are you or your partner feeling depressed? Is it affecting your marriage/relationship? We can help!

Dr. Daniel O'Leary and Ms. Shiri Cohen from the University Marital Clinic are looking for couples to participate in a therapy study. If you are married or cohabitating with a partner, and one of you is currently feeling depressed, you may be eligible to receive a free, 5-week couples treatment to help you and your partner learn more about depression and ways to cope with the stress you may be facing. Please contact Ms. Shiri Cohen at 632-7850 for more information about this study. This research project is funded by the National Institute of Mental Health.

3. Are You Depressed? We Can Help!

The Department of Psychology at Stony Brook University is conducting up to a 6 month clinical trial involving medication with all participants and the addition of psychotherapy with some. Must be willing to travel up to two times a week for up to 3 months to the site and be available late afternoons/early evenings. If you have been feeling depressed (sad, down) most of the time for at least two years, you may be eligible to participate. All evaluations and treatments will be provided free of charge. 1. Become a Long Island State Veterans Home Volunteer

The Long Island State Veterans Home located on Stony Brook Campus is always in need of volunteers. We need volunteers to help with therapeutic recreation especially evenings & weekends. We are open 365 days a year and good help is always beneficial. Spend some time helping a veteran enjoy life or assist a department to provide services for a veteran. You could share your talents and/or your time to improve quality of life for everyone. Contact Susan Helmus: 444-8590 for more information.
