Since your mail file size is limited, you must constantly manage the documents in it. You should delete the mail you don't need and "archive" the mail that you may need access to again in the future. To learn how to do this attend the "Getting Organized With Lotus Notes" class.

This is an informal event, an opportunity for Blackboard instructors to share ideas and practices.

2. Psychiatry and Personality Conference at Sony Brook University

Stony Brook will host a Conference on Biological Basis of Personality and Individual Differences, 8/13-15, here on campus. Seating is limited. LAST DAY TO REGISTER IS 8/2. There is no onsite registration. Open to all.

1. SBU Cat Network Needs Volunteers

The USB Cat Network works to humanely trap, neuter, vaccinate, and care for the many feral cats that live on campus. We could use help in many areas: trapping, fostering, driving, picking up supplies, fundraising, and especially maintaining feeding stations. 2. Habitat for Humanity Women's Blitz Build

Stony Brook University is proud to be a sponsor of the Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk County "Women's Blitz Build". One house will be built during the course of one week in August; the partner family is a single mom and her daughter. Scheduled to take place August 23-28, 2004 with the dedication scheduled for August 30, there will be tow shifts of volunteers each day. 1. Stony Brook's Last Girls Lacrosse Clinic of the Summer (8/11/04)

Come attend the last Stony Brook Girls Lacrosse Clinic of the summer. Our special guest of this clinic is Shari Krasnoo, the Head Coach at Boston College. The clinic will be held in LaValle Stadium, from 3:45-8:00 PM, on August 11th, 2004. SB faculty and staff will receive a $10.00 discount. The Seawolves Girls Lacrosse Clinics are designed specifically for girls and young women who want to take their game to the next level. Staffed by experienced coaches who are familiar with the women's game on the collegiate level, the clinics combine basic and advanced skill instruction, offensive and defensive strategies, and game experiences to help players put it all together. 1. Free Help For Mothers Of 2-3 Year Olds

The Point of Woods Laboratory and Parenting Clinic at Stony Brook University is seeking volunteers for a research study that offers free help for mothers who are having difficulty managing their challenging 2-3 year old toddlers. To obtain more information and to find out if you may qualify, call the Parenting Study at (631) 632-7874.

2. Select - Selenium And Vitamin E Cancer Prevention Trial.

SELECT is a research study being conducted to see if prostate cancer can be prevented.
Men who participate in this study will take two capsules a day. Some men will take only selenium or vitamin E and some will take both. Others will take a placebo (sugar capsule).
Participants will visit their local study site twice a year for at least seven years, and no more than twelve years. About 32,000 men will take part in this study.
Men free of prostate cancer who are age 55 or older may be able to take part in this study. African-American men may join at age 50 or older.
Taking part in SELECT may not help you directly. But we hope that the information learned from this study will benefit your sons, grandsons, and future generations.

3. Are You A Type I Insulin-Dependant Diabetic?

We are conducting a study to determine whether periodontal treatment can reduce specific markers of infection/inflammation that may make it more difficult for you and your physician to control diabetes.
Study participants will receive a free periodontal cleaning and payment up to $300.00

4. Alzheimer's Disease Trial At SUNY Stony Brook.

A Trial of Zocor (an anti-cholesterol medication) to slow the Progression of Alzheimer's Disease. All eligible participants with mild-moderate AD would remain on their current AD treatments, while participating in this trial.

5. Do You Have A Frozen Shoulder?

7. How Do You Manage Your Stress During Pregnancy?

Research Study at the General Clinical Research Center, University Hospital.
If you are in the first or second trimester of pregnancy, you may be eligible for a research study that is looking at different ways to manage stress and cope during pregnancy.
Through this study you may learn relaxation techniques, coping skills and stress reduction techniques. These skills may be useful to you during and after your pregnancy.

11. Did You Ever Wonder Why Some People Get Stressed Out More Easily Than Others?

Stress can affect the brain, heart, hormones, and mental performance.
We are looking for men and women, 18-50 years of age, to participate in a non-invasive study.
Participation in this protocol requires that volunteers be free on two consecutive weekdays including two hospital overnights
For example: Sunday night to Tuesday afternoon, or Tuesday night to Thursday afternoon
You will be free to pursue your normal activities after 4:15 pm, but you will need to be back for the overnight stay.
COMPENSATION: $200.00

14. Seeking Volunteers for a Cancer Study

We are seeking to identify new cancer markers in blood, tissue and body fluids. This may allow us to develop laboratory tests which can diagnose cancers earlier and/or identify patients who are at risk for a poor outcome and who may benefit from more aggressive therapy than is normally recommended.

Qualified participants
- must be at least 18 years of age
- have no history of seizures, stroke, and head trauma.

1. Attention all Sports Complex General Locker room users

August 9th all lockers in the General Women's Locker room will be cleaned, any locks remaining on lockers will be removed and all contents will be discarded.
On August 11th all lockers in the General Men's Locker room wll be cleaned, any locks remaining on lockers will be removed and all contents will be discarded. The Faculty/Staff locker rooms will not be affeted by this cleaning.
