1. Coaching Your Staff; Giving Constructive Feedback

During this session supervisors will identify the key components of coaching: setting performance expectations, monitoring progress toward meeting the expectations, coaching in a corrective way if expectations are not met, and providing supportive coaching. Supervisors will also gain an understanding of how coaching takes place informally on a daily basis.

2. Tutor Training Workshop

The Adult Literacy Center at Stony Brook is seeking volunteer tutors to tutor individuals on basic literacy and english speaking skills. The only requirement for volunteering is that you have a high school degree. In order to become a volunteer, you need to attend a tutor training workshop. The dates are as follows: September 22, 29, Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27, November 3, 17, 2005 (must attend all sessions)
Time of all sessions: 5:30pm-8:30pm
Workshop held on campus for your convenience!

1. Chemo Caps!

Calling all crafters! Dust off your kniting needles, crochet hooks, and sewing machines, the HSC Library is making chemo caps for cancer patients in the University Hospital.
The Chemo Cap group meets every Wednesday from 12:00-1:00pm in the HSC Library. If you enjoy knitting, crocheting or sewing and would like to meet others who share your hobby, as well as doing something good for others, this group is for you!
If you'd like to participate on West campus, a group meets Wednesdays from 12:00-1:00pm in the 2nd floor lounge of Psychology A.

1. 2005 Stony Brook Girls Soccer Camp

The Stony Brook Women's Soccer Staff is running 2 soccer camps this summer. The first camp is for players in grades 9 - 12 and will run the week of June 27th - June 30th from 9:00am to 3:00pm. This camp is designed specifically for club and high school players who are searching to take their game to the next level.
The second camp is designed for players between the ages of 7 - 13 the week of July 25th - 29th. The camp will run from 9:00am to 3:30pm. We do offer both team and individual training sessions for players who have a strong commitment to improve. 2. Department of Campus Recreation Badminton Tournament

The Department of Campus Recreation is now accepting registration for our one-day Badminton (Singles) Tournament to be held on Wednesday, July 13th. Tournament will run from 5:15pm - 8:30pm in the Pritchard Gymnasium. Registration Fee is $10.00. All games will be played in one night. Registration deadline is July 11th. Only students, faculty & staff of the University are eligible to participate. For more information or to register, please contact Marie Turchiano @ 632-4145.

3. Department of Campus Recreation Co-Rec Volleyball Tournament

The Department of Campus Recreation is now accepting registration for our one-day Co-Rec Volleyball Tournament to be held on Wednesday, July 27th in the Pritchard Gymnasium. Teams will consist of at least six players (minimum 3 women) on the court at all times. Tournament will run from 5:15pm - 8:30pm. Registration Fee is $80.00/team. All games will be played in one night. Registration deadline is July 24th. Only students, faculty & staff of the University are eligible to participate. 4. 2005 Stony Brook University Boys Basketball Camp

The Stony Brook Men's Basketball staff is running 2 weeks of basketball camp this summer for boys ages 8-16. The weeks of camp are July 11-July 15 and July 25-July 29. Camp will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the cost is $285. per week. 5. Long Island Ducks Tickets for UUP Members

United University Professions has tickets available to the Friday, July 8, 2005 "Long Island Ducks" vs. "Nashua, NH" Baseball Game and Pre-Game Picnic. The Pre-Game Picnic begins at 5:00 PM and Game Time is 7:05 PM. Tickets are $25 each and are available to all UUP members. Please contact the UUP Office at (63)2-6570.

Now in our 5th year! A position-specific camp for players age 8-17.

2. Weight Watchers at Work Program

A NEW 10 week session of Weight Watchers @ Work is being organized. Meetings are scheduled for Tuesday at 12:30 PM in the large conference room, School of Health Technology & Management. 2. WOLFSTOCK 2005 A Homecoming Tradition

SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 24, 2005, HOST A TABLE IN THE EXPO TENT
Join us to experience the best tastes of Long Island's restaurants, wineries and breweries in the Alumni Food Pavilion. Check out what's new on campus at the University Expo Tent.
You can display your department information in the Expo Tent with brochures or giveaways which will be part of the Homecoming Wolfstock Village.
The Expo Tent will be open from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. adjacent to LaValle Stadium. We can allocate 1 - 3 (6') tables for you to display your brochures, forms or giveaways. Last year approximately 3,500 people attended homecoming and as many stopped in to visit the Expo Tent.
To take part in the Expo Tent and host a table, please call 4-2899 x 1 for a registration form. Space is limited.

The Oncology Nurse from Stony Brook University Hospital's Cancer Helpline will be available in person to answer cancer questions at The Community Resource Center located in the Stony Brook Village on 7/6/05 from 12:00 noon till 2:00-PM. This is an opportunity to have cancer questions answered and to obtain cancer related information

4. Center for Italian Studies/Stony Brook Manhattan Event: July 13. Displays of and presentations on products, "Made In Sicily".

"Made in Sicily" Event includes displays of olive oils, sweets, wines and liquors and presentations by professors and students from the University of Messina's program in International and European Education. Wednesday, July 13,at Stony Brook Manhattan; 401 Park Avenue South. Program Schedule: 2-6 p.m.-Walk-in opportunity to view displays and discuss "Made in Sicily" products with representatives from the University of Messina. 6 pm Program: Welcome from Center for Italian Studies; Greetings from NY State Assemblyman, Thomas Di Napoli; Commentaries from Professor Marcello Saija and Staff from the Deepartment of International Education and European Studies, University of Messina; and a viewing of Video:"Made in Sicily".
