* According to a recent study, people living in the U.S. will soon be getting rid of about 130 million mobile phones every year.
* Every year, over 400 million cartridges, with a combined weight of 200 million pounds, are discarded into our nation's landfills.
* If every used cartridge was recovered for remanufacturing, we could conserve more than 283 million gallons of oil.
This message brought to you by the Department of Recycling/Resource Management.

12. Indian Film Series 2005: Sholay (Embers) March 16, Wednesday, 7:00 p.m. Wang Center Theatre., Admission is free.
Sholay inaugurated the modern period of commercial Hindi cinema. Often described as India's best-known "curry" western, Sholay was patterned on American westerns. Two convicts and small time crooks (Amitabh and Dharmendra) are chosen by Thakur (Sanjeev Kumar), a former police officer, to seek vengeance on the dangerous bandit Gabbar Singh (Amjad Khan) because he killed all of Thakur's family (except a daughter-in-law) and maimed Thakur for life. This was a result of an earlier incident in which Thakur had captured Gabbar and helped in his conviction. Gabbar managed to escape and wreaked havoc in Thakur's life. The ensuing action makes for one of the most exciting Indian movies made to date. Nuove Uova: New Works for Violin and Electricity, Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at 8:00, Recital Hall - $30
Todd Reynolds, the most-up-to-date violinist and composer around, and also co-founder of the revolutionary string quartet, Ethel, brings us a line-up that defies style and genre: Nuove Uova: New Works for Violin and Electricity. The musicians coming to Staller are not only a chamber music group--they're a band, contemporary, hip and passionate. Together with Percussionist David Cossin, Vocalist Theo Bleckmann and others, Reynolds will weave together current music composed within the last three years by himself, Ingram Marshall, Phil Kline (recent CD-- "Zippo Songs: Airs of War and Lunacy") and Michael Gordon. Nuove Uova: New Works for Violin and Electricity more a show than a concert, having been performed nationally and internationally in clubs as well as concert halls.

18. Chinese Martial Arts Film Series 2005: Game of Death Tuesday, March 15, 7:00 p.m. Free to all.
At the time of his sudden death in 1973, Bruce Lee left unfinished a film in which he battles his way up a tower of formidable opponents, one level at a time. The producers spliced the finished footage together with highlights and leftovers from his previous films and concocted this metafictional story about a kung fu star named Billy Lo who fakes his own death and then battles his way up a tower of formidable opponents, one level at a time. Game of Death speaks volumes about the nature of cinematic stardom. (Robert Clouse, 1973, 94 min., English)
