Today we bear the continuous production, testing and dissemination of nuclear weaponry, the contamination of Earth's fragile ecology, and the culture of an ever-present fear of Armageddon. Seeing Through Sixty Years seeks a transformation in a new vision graced with sensitivity, consciousness, public dialogue, hope, and possibly, redemption. Seeing Through Sixty Years represents the united efforts of a community of artists who have come together to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Passed down to us from 1945 is the costly patrimony of still-horrifying images of charred bodies, decimated buildings and despondent victims. Curated by Nobuho Nagasawa with participation from SBU's Art Department.
