Computer Browser Requirements
PeopleSoft 8.0 is web-based. You can access it from your web browser using a specific URL.

The following are the recommended (preferred) computer requirements:

    Windows 2000, XP or Vista
    512 megabytes of memory
    Internet Explorer 7.0 with 128 bit security and per-session cookies enabled

    MAC OS X 10.3
    Firefox 2.0
    Safari 2.0.4
    Camino 1.5.1
    Netscape 8.1.3
Minimum Requirements:
    Windows 98
    128 megabytes of memory
    Internet Explorer 5.5 with 128 bit security and per-session cookies enabled

You may have problems using the Solar System if you have changed your browser settings from factory default settings. For example, you will not be able to use it if the Internet Explorer security level (in Internet Options) is set to High.

Some reports require Adobe Acrobat Reader 6.0.

Getting Started
Obtaining your Stony Brook ID and Password:
If you are a new student, you will receive your Stony Brook ID upon admission. Your initial password is your six-digit birth date (e.g., 080284 for August 2, 1984).
If you are an employee, including faculty, and you do not know your SOLAR password click this link https://adam.cc.sunysb.edu/solarpwd.html. After you validate your identity, instructions on how to construct your password will be sent to you by email.

Logging in to the SOLAR system:
  1. In the Stony Brook ID field, type your Stony Brook ID.
  2. In the Password field, type your current password.

The First time you Log on to the SOLAR system
When you first log on to the SOLAR System, you must change your password. You will see a message telling you that your password has expired. Click the link https://adam.cc.sunysb.edu/solarpwd.html to change your password. After you have entered and confirmed your new password, click the SAVE icon and then click Home at the top of the page. You can then begin using the SOLAR system.

E-mail Notification about Messages and Alerts on your account:
To receive e-mail notification that you have messages or alerts waiting for you on your account, it is important that your e-mail address is kept accurate and up-to-date. Check your SOLAR System Welcome Page frequently for messages, such as holds on enrollment transactions, permission to enroll, financial aid requirements, etc. Instructions about what you need to do and whom you must contact will be displayed. Holds must be resolved before enrolling.
